The start of the 2014|15 concert season sees Andrés Orozco-Estrada take the top position at the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Houston Symphony. The public, media and musicians alike gave him a warm and enthusiastic welcome to both of his new work-places. Following his début at the Rheingau music festival, Andrés Orozco-Estrada introduced himself to his new Frankfurt audience in an open-air concert with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra in the Metzlerpark, which was soon packed. Just under 5000 music-lovers enjoyed an ambitious yet entertaining programme in situ with works by Ravel, Richard Strauss and Sarasate, and more than 330000 viewers followed the concert on the hr-Fernsehen TV channel. “Frankfurt's new Classical star wowed the audience”, the Frankfurter Neue Presse reported on his début as principal conductor.
Houston also welcomed their new Music Director with open arms and boundless enthusiasm. The new director of the Houston Symphony presented his musical visiting card to over 8000 listeners in an open-air concert at the Miller Outdoor Theatre of both Latin-American and US repertoire and also in his first subscription concert including a world première of a Gabriela Lena Frank composition and works by Rachmaninoff and Richard Strauss. Houston Chronicle: "Symphony's Orozco-Estrada hits new high with Strauss".
